Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 9, 2027. In Asheville it falls in the last weeks of Spring at Biltmore and at the height of spring in the city’s gardens. Asheville Parks and Recreation runs Mother’s Day programs at its community centers, and restaurants post brunch menus in April. This page lists what is confirmed and adds new events as organizers announce them.

What this means for you

  • Biltmore and the Arboretum sell daytime tickets or parking in advance; book ahead for the weekend.
  • City Mother’s Day programs need registration on AVLREC.com and fill up.
  • Brunch reservations go fast: watch restaurants’ own websites from April.

Gardens and days out

Spring at Biltmore runs March 25 to May 20, 2027, according to Biltmore. Waves of color move through the gardens from tulips and daffodils to azaleas and wisteria, with floral displays inside Biltmore House. The estate, at 1 Lodge St., posts a bloom report on the same page so you can see what is flowering before you go.

The North Carolina Arboretum, 20 Frederick Law Olmsted Way off the Blue Ridge Parkway, is open 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. from April to October. Parking is $25 a vehicle, and its gardens include the Bonsai Exhibition Garden and the National Native Azalea Collection, according to the arboretum. Phone: 828-665-2492.

Asheville Art Museum, 2 S. Pack Square, is open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and closed Mondays and Tuesdays, so it is open on Mother’s Day, according to the museum. Buncombe County residents can get 20% off admission.

Brunch

Restaurants announce Mother’s Day menus a few weeks ahead. We list a Mother’s Day brunch here only once the restaurant posts the menu on its own website. Places that serve brunch every weekend are in our brunch in Asheville guide.

Gifts and markets

Asheville’s tailgate markets are in season by May, and the WNC Farmers Market is open daily. Days, hours and addresses are on our farmers markets page. Downtown shopping and the River Arts District are in free things to do in Asheville.

What is open

Mother’s Day is not a city holiday. City parks and greenways are open 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., ART buses run their Sunday schedule, and trash pickup is not affected. The next holiday schedule change is Memorial Day, Monday, May 31, 2027: see Memorial Day in Asheville.
