The River Arts District is Asheville’s working art neighborhood: buildings along the French Broad River that hold studios and galleries for more than 550 artists, plus restaurants, cafes and breweries. Tropical Storm Helene flooded the district in September 2024; its artists association says the district is open again and is still raising money to help artists come back and stay. Readers of USA Today’s 10Best named it the best arts district in the country, the association says.
