12 ice cream, gelato, doughnut and dessert shops inside Asheville city limits: downtown, Haywood Road, Merrimon Avenue, Roberts Street and Hendersonville Road.
Last checked Oct. 12, 2026. Refreshed every three months.
Most of Asheville’s ice cream and dessert shops are downtown, within a few blocks of each other on Haywood Street, Battery Park Avenue, Patton Avenue, Biltmore Avenue and South Lexington Avenue. Haywood Road in West Asheville has The Hop and Hole Doughnuts, and Merrimon Avenue in North Asheville has The Hop and Jeremiah’s Italian Ice side by side.
How we made this list. The places come from OpenStreetMap records inside Asheville’s city limits, the same data behind our local directory, checked against each place’s own website on Oct. 12, 2026. We added Kilwins and The Hop’s downtown counter from their own sites. We left out Dairy Queen and Cinnabon, whose own pages give Arden addresses, French Broad Chocolate, whose locations page would not load for us, and shops with no working website of their own. The list is alphabetical. It is not a ranking or a recommendation, and nobody paid to be on it. Run one of these places? Write to us to correct your entry.
